Snow!

Don't know if you heard, but Madison declared a snow emergency. We are doing just fine though, don't worry!

I propose we try this...

Stay warm!

We're number one!

Parallel Kingdom is ranked the number one app on 101BestAndroidApps.com! It is like a popularity contest in high school, and we won! Who said a bunch of geeks couldn't be prom kings and queens?

We like getting good news like this, but did we celebrate? Not much because we have a lot of work to do (there are some interesting things coming out soon). But this did bring up an interesting question: what other functions can we add to make PK even better?

If you go on the website, you can see other top rated apps, maybe we could incorporate some of their ideas into the game? The number two app, Locale, looks pretty cool, but it does location-based stuff though which we already have covered.

The third is Google Sky Map and I'm not going to lie, it looks really fun. We do have Google maps in the game, so we are partially covered there, but we'll have to see about the stars.

The fourth is called Buka and I'm just confused by it. For some reason it reminds me of Giga Pets, remember those?

I could keep going through the list, but I think you get the idea. The only genre we don't really touch is the soundbox, but I don't think the world needs another way to make fart noises. Most important takeaways (remember, always summarize in your conclusion): we have a fun game and we are really happy to get the recognition, thanks to everyone that voted!

Have a good weekend and stay warm.

A day in the life... (part 3)

So we hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving! And for our international friends, we hope you had an awesome November 26th as well!

I've slacked a bit over the past week, I apologize. I would like to say that I was pursuing some worthwhile endeavor like saving the rain forests or even finishing any of my projects... But the truth is my thumbs have been sore from playing AoE, and from what I've been seeing everyone else seems to be enjoying it too! In the game and online (the forum and the guide have had so many visits it's incredible), you all seem to be really interested and active and we just want to tell you that makes us really happy. I'm not even a dev and I'm excited.

Anyway, things are a bit less hectic and less hair is being pulled out now that Apple has approved the game. So we are on to some new tasks. Most of these involve fixing bugs, answering questions about the game, and just trying to get the word out. Sometimes, though, we do throw around new ideas for other adventures PerBlue could get itself involved in.

Here's one of my favorites:

Indoor paintball complex in downtown locations!
This was spurred after someone had a fun time playing paintball and was sharing their tales of victory and defeat: "I had this one move, where I flanked people and hit them in the back to watch them flail in agony." Naturally we all wanted to share in the multi-colored carnage, but the only problem is that paintball fields are usually quite a ways outside of the city...

This is where we come in: PerBlue Paintball, downtown near you. It could be somewhat practical, we could run PerBlue out of a small corner of some old warehouse and then use the rest of the space for paintball. Makes sense to me!

There are lots of new advancements in this area, we could have guns that cater to kids or really intense (maybe excessive?) guns for hardcore players too. This could open us up to a whole new area with some interesting gadgets like these.

At the least it could probably help cover costs and might generate new ideas for PK attacks...

Everyone is informing me now that this will never happen... But I can dream, can't I?
